Sacred
Space: The Prayer Book 2007
This is a prayer guide inspired by the
very popular, successful, interactive website,
www.sacredspace.ie - Since 1999 the
site has logged over seventeen million visits. Sacred Space offers a daily
scripture selection, followed by points of inspiration to help you consider
the passage and its relevance to daily life. The book also provides weekly
themes, and you are encouraged to reflect everyday on the six stages of
prayer specially created for the theme of the week.
A thoughtful exploration of the history and vitality of
traditional Catholic prayers. Praying people have long relied on meditative
or extemporaneous prayer to express their feelings and yearnings to God.
Traditional prayer, often considered rote, tends to be neglected. In the
Words We Pray, author Amy Welborn offers an insightful exploration into
eighteen traditional prayers and the vital role they play in the spiritual
life. Read our interview with author Amy
Welborn.
Day by Day: The Notre Dame Prayerbook for Students celebrates its 25th anniversary with this wonderful new edition. While aimed at college students, the format of the book is helpful to anyone seeking tools to develop a richer prayer life. The book has been updated to include the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary and still contains all of the classic Catholic prayers so central to our Faith. At the heart of the book, and what makes it so special, are the various “Student Life” prayers targeted at helping teens and adults face the many challenges they come up against in day to day life. The book is an excellent resource for high school and college students, young adults seeking to transition into the “real world” and any Catholic family looking to add a treasure to their Catholic home library. |

In this book Therese Cirner clearly and concisely lays out six "keys" to a deeper spiritual life. Cirner acknowledges the wisdom of the spiritual masters who have lent classic wisdom to the topic of living a holy life, but offers this book for those looking to "bridge" their own spiritual journeys to such classical writers as St. John of the Cross or Teresa of Avila. Cirner's six keys, prayer, Scripture and spiritual reading, the sacraments, community, virtue and forgiveness, are each laid out in a chapter concluding with reflection questions and an inspirational prayer. The book could be used as a small prayer group resource, or would be excellent for individual contemplation and reflection. Additional literary references are recommended for each of the Keys, offering the reader a treasure trove of resources for the challenge of growing a deeper spiritual life.
