Divine Mercy Sunday, Second Sunday of Easter

On Sunday, we have the readings for Divine Mercy Sunday, the Second Sunday of Easter.  Our Gospel reading for this week, John 20:19-31 tells the story of Jesus' disciples, who had gathered together in fear after His death.  Jesus came to the disciples and stood with them, saying "Peace be with you."  The disciples were so very happy to see Jesus, and they rejoiced!  Now one of the disciples, Thomas, was not with them when Jesus appeared.  When Thomas' friends told him that Jesus had come to them, he said, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."

A week later, Jesus again came to the disciples and this time Thomas was with them.  Jesus said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe."  Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!"  Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me?  Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."  Thomas believed because he was able to see and feel Jesus with his own senses.  For those of us living today, we are not able to see and touch Jesus the way his disciples and Thomas did, but we do believe in Him!  We know that Jesus died for us, and that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to heaven.  We can see Jesus in the faces and hearts of the people we know and love.  We can be a sign of Jesus to other people, so that when they look at us they will know His special love.

While you color this week, give thanks to God for the glory of the Resurrection.  Think about how you can let Jesus' wonderful love shine through you! Take some quiet time to pray to God as you color. To color the pictures, click on the small image to enlarge and use your "back" button to return here.
