The Top 10 Gifts for Mother's Day

This Mother's Day show mom just how much she means to you with a gift that tells her she is loved, honored, and appreciated. Mother--the woman who loves you most in the whole wide world. She gave you life and without her you wouldn't even be here. She is the hardest working, under appreciated and under paid person on earth. Until now. You can change all that with a fabulous day designed just for her.

We polled moms across America and found some definite do's and don'ts for Mother's Day presents. So, here is our top 10 list of worst and best gifts. Put some time and thought into her present and she'll love you even more. So, go ahead and make this day a real celebration for Mom!

Don't go here...

Every mom we talked to had a story to tell about their worst Mother's Day gift. No matter how much you think she needs a new diaper bag or white cotton underwear, think again. These are definite no no's.

Guys, we know how much you hate to shop, but you'll end up in the dog house if you and the kids spring for cheap chocolates from the drugstore, a large screen TV, lawn mower, new toaster or onion chopper.

Flowers are always appreciated, but you can do better than the grocery store arrangements that wilt the next day.

Moms are known for putting their family before themselves--willfully and happily doing for others. But, don't ask your wife to buy the present you give to your own mother. And, no matter how much she smiles and cheerily agrees, she really doesn't want to cook brunch and pack it in the car to take to her Mother-in-Law's.

How about a home cooked meal? And, that doesn't mean ordering a pizza to save her from having to cook on her "special day." Don't even mention the high fat!

Lavish Your Mom with Love.
What mothers want most for Mother's Day is you. A gift of love, no matter how simple, shows that you honor and appreciate her. Sometimes, it's the simple gestures from the heart that mean the most. This Mother's Day, give of yourself and share the gift of time together.

Here are our top 10 picks for Mother's Day gifts:

1. Sleeping in (with no interruptions--just peace and quiet.)
2. Breakfast in bed, (even if it is just toast) complete with flowers and a clean napkin.
3. A day of down time. Shower her with "Thanks Mom" and "I love you Mommy."
4. Coupons for back rubs, hugs, kisses, and chores (more time off.)
5. Hand picked flowers from the garden, a single elegant stem, or pressed flower.
6. Handmade cards
7. A batch of her favorite cookies (include chocolate.)
8. A Mom Award "You're the Best Mom in the Whole Wide World..." or a Book of Love. "I love you because..."
9. Beaming smiles, laughter, joy, and lots of kisses.
10. A hand written poem.

"Mom, your job has special rewards.
Today we give you this grand award.
Not money, fame or a brand new car,
But a love note from the cookie jar.
There is no higher calling than to give yourself away
To the cause of loving us each and every day."

Excerpted from a Mother's Day poem written by the Martinello Family
