Catholic Mom Review:
"It's a really good movie! It taught me lots of things.
You should get it!"
Adam (age 7)
"It's an easy way to learn the Ten Commandments and what they
mean. It also had lots of funny parts!"
Eric (age 10)
The video is aimed at children in the 3rd
through 6th grades, but will appeal to a much broader age range. I
viewed Close Encounters with the
Commandments with my sons, ages 10 and 7 and found that it
caught their attention quickly and held it. I enjoyed this positive
perspective on the Commandments as opportunities for expressing love,
rather than chances to get "caught" sinning. The story
line contained humor and real world examples I felt my children could
definitely relate to in their own lives. The Commandments are
reviewed one by one and given comprehensive treatment. I felt my
children definitely had an enhanced knowledge and understanding of the
role of the Commandments in living as loving Christians after having
viewed this video. The video would be an excellent tool for
Religious Educators as well as parents looking to shed a positive light on
the opportunities God gives us to show our love to one another in today's
world. Perhaps the greatest testament to Close
Encounters with the Commandments is that my boys asked
immediately to view it again!
