Apr 21, 2009 9:40:03 AM  |  by [Lisa M. Hendey](https://www.catholicmom.com/articles/author/lisa-m-hendey) From today's morning prayer and reading time: "There was no needy person among them, for those who owned property or houses would sell them, bring the proceeds of the sale, and put them at the feet of the Apostles, and they were distributed to each according to need." [*From today's first reading*](http://www.usccb.org/nab/readings/042109.shtml) Today's saint, [St. Anselm](http://saints.sqpn.com/sainta16.htm), "taught his confreres to make progress in the way of perfection and to seek God through the understanding of faith."  *Lord, help me to seek you today by coming to a better understanding of my faith. * **Today in History:** [Empire of Rome was founded](http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history.do?action=VideoArticle&id=6874) **Quote of the day:** "When we dream alone, it is only a dream.  When we dream together, it is no longer a dream but the beginning of reality."  *Brazilian Proverb* ### Share this article [![Share on Facebook](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/facebook-24x24.png)](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2F2009%2F04%2F21%2Frandom-thoughts%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dfacebook) [![Share on Twitter](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/twitter-24x24.png)](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?original_referer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2F2009%2F04%2F21%2Frandom-thoughts%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dtwitter&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2F2009%2F04%2F21%2Frandom-thoughts%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dtwitter&source=tweetbutton&text=Random%20Thoughts...) [![Share on Email](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/email-24x24.png)](mailto:?subject=Check%20out%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2F2009%2F04%2F21%2Frandom-thoughts%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Demail%20&body=Check%20out%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.catholicmom.com%2Farticles%2F2009%2F04%2F21%2Frandom-thoughts%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Demail) ** #### About the Author ![Lisa M.
