Today's Heroes

Many of you know that three years ago, I underwent treatment for non-invasive breast cancer. I look at that period of my life with humility and amazement. For seven weeks, during daily radiation treatments at the cancer center, I had a front row vantage point for a parade of heroes. Unlike me, many of the men, women and children being treated were facing considerable odds. And yet in that place there was an incredible atmosphere of faith, of courage and of hope.

I'm happy to tell you about a new book that will be launching in May that captures some of this same essence. Today's Heroes, Surviving with Style tells the personal stories of 23 cancer survivors. The book was motivated by Richie White, who lost his battle in 1991 to an aggressive brain tumor at the age of four. Today, his memory lives on with the Richie White Pediatric Family Fund at the Cleveland Clinic. The fund's mission is “Making Children Smile." The book will help continue Richie's legacy with proceeds to benefit the Fund.

The book's author is Richie's uncle John Voso, Jr. John is a lifelong salesman, professional bowler, lover of the Arts and many things Italian. John resides in Sagamore Hills, Ohio with his wife Debbie. They have 3 children Angela, John and Deanna. Today's Heroes, Surviving with Style is the culmination of his lifelong dream to write a book.
