First Sacred Heart World Congress to Be Held in Paray le Monial, France
Catholics around the globe are being offered the opportunity to find a new sense of hope and to deepen their relationships with Jesus through devotion to His Sacred Heart at the First Sacred Heart World Congress to be held October 6-11, 2011 in Paray-le-Monial, France.
With the time for the First Sacred Heart World Congress approaching, Catholics worldwide are encouraged to pray to discern whether they are being called by God to attend the event. Paray le Monial is the site where St. Margaret Mary Alocoque received visions from Jesus of His Sacred Heart in the 17th century. The Sacred Heart World Congress has received the endorsement of cardinals and bishops from around the world, including Cardinal Raymond Burke, Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, the Vatican’s highest canonical court.
With the intention of making Jesus the head of every household, the Sacred Heart World Congress will emphasize a plan for a world-wide mission to renew societies by centering individuals and families on the love of God incarnated in the Heart of Christ, according to Congress organizers. The World Congress in France will be the first of five such events to be held over the next several years on five continents and will be based on the teaching about the importance of “enthroning” the Sacred Heart of Jesus as the center of individual lives and of families in order to win souls to Christ.
“The purpose of the Sacred Heart Congress is to further the creation of what Pope John Paul II termed ‘a civilization of love,’ one individual at a time, one family at a time, so that through the family, the faith would be passed along,” said Fr. William Petrie, ss.cc., Provincial Superior of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, U.S.A. East Province, and one of the organizers of the Congress. “The plan is about building Christ’s kingdom, a spiritual kingdom, which is the whole world and the head of that kingdom is Christ. The Father sent Him with this image of love, the Sacred Heart.
“We ask people to consider whether they are being invited and then we allow God’s grace to touch them. Those who will attend will come to understand in a deeper way God’s love through the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”
Registration for the Sacred Heart World Congress will include daily admission to the Congress, all related activities and talks, daily Mass, Eucharistic Holy Hours, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and an Enthronement of the Sacred Heart within the Congress. Catechesis and training on the enthronement process itself also will be offered to those who feel called by God during the Congress to return to their cities and communities to spread the word about the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart. The Congress will be offered in multiple languages including English. Optional tour packages will be offered including a pre-trip to Paris, a post-trip to Lourdes, as well as day tours to Lyon or Ars/Cluny.
