Wife crying while her husband is wondering why

Don’t let successful mom biz ladies fool you.  Often at first, their enterprises did not thrill their hubbies.

Entrepreneurship can be a steep road. It’s treacherous  with an undercurrent of spousal resistance.

What does a  Catholic mompreneur, who strongly feels the Holy Spirit’s inspiration to invest in her business, with a tepid spouse do?

You are not alone.  Your success may threatened even the  greatest partners.

  • Your husband may resent  your focus isn’t exclusively on him and the home.

  • He may begrudge inadequate input into your business decisions.

  • Your independence may be challenging his manhood

Ignoring our wifely call to submission can create a two-headed dragon marriage. But submission can be in the form of these healing habits:

1. Submit to the Proper Authority

God is the ultimate authority and husbands (and wives) are imperfect. Submit your will, work, and biz life to God. Knowing God’s  will requires a solid prayer life and good counsel. The wife God wants you to be isn’t always the wife your husband wants you to be.

2. Show Them They’re  Your #1

Your primary vocations are  to be a  wife and mother, not a business owner.  Prioritize commitments to family and self care ahead of  your business, not the other way around.

3. Be a Contributor

Your mom biz should contribute o the family’s goals and mission. Is it allowing you greater flexibility to be present for those special  family  moments?  Does it help you fund the savings, investments, and purchases you and your husband value?  Are you gaining self-confidence, making you a more cheerful wife and mother?

4. Keep a Low Profile

Be sensitive to your husband’s mixed feelings  about your business. If there’s friction, minimize what you discuss. Celebrate your successes with others.  Do your work out of the radar.  Down the road, once your spouse sees the benefits, he can rejoice your accomplishments.

5. Ask 100% for What You Want (and Negotiate Back From There)

Still ask your family what you need from them even if it’s been difficult adjusting – help with chores, increased responsibilities, getting along with each other better.  They  may say “no”, but most likely  you will get part of what you want.  The mompreneur family benefits by developing responsibility, charity, and other virtues required when everyone pitches in.

6. Agree to Disagree

When you’ve carefully discerned God’s will  for your choices, you’re lovingly attending to the needs and wants of your family, and you’re being sensitive to the feelings of others, your hubby still may be displeased with your mom biz.  Sometimes  you must agree to disagree, move forward, and  deliver on how your business  benefits the family.

Navigating family dynamics is one of many obstacles you’ll encounter on your road to success. With a sensitive ear to God’s life plan , putting your loved ones first,  and doing the right things in the right way in your business, it all comes together.

Catholic Mompreneurs Biz and Life Tips:  Remember that overcoming obstacles is part of the bumpy mompreneurs road to success.  Review these healing habits to ensure you’re keeping  the man in your life as happy as you can.
