Whether you are attending to your motherly duties or running a mom business, it’s easy to rely on self, not God.  It is easy, especially in the beginning or early stages of a business, to let anxiety and insecurity about your success push you into the workaholic trap.

Biz moms have the added challenge of  learning how to get in the work flow while in the midst of child, home, and family responsibilities. You might be like many other moms who don’t realize how their many interruptions get  in the way of productive work time. You might be having far less productive work time than you think you are.

So, out of the gate mompreneurs must learn how to work. Two support pillars to help you are the tools of planning and support structure.

Planning takes the guesswork out of what you need to do and when. It encompasses:

  • business planning,

  • marketing planning,

  • revenue generation plans,

  • an annual blog and content plan,

  • marketing and competitive research plans,

  • personal and business development plannings,

  • family and relationship plans,

  • self-care plans, and

  • systems planning.

Structure flows from planning as it defines when and how you will work on your various plans and projects. You structure your time so that you have:

  • focused blocks of time to tackle your priority projects,

  • work time that allows you to efficiently complete your regular work tasks,

  • a work system that is in sync with your energy levels and biorhythms,

  • a work schedule that jives with your family’s routine rather than conflicts it, and

  • a work environment that allows you to tackle your key revenue generating activities every day.

Don’t feel guilty for asking some time away from the family to nail down your plans so you can set up a winning structure. While banging on the laptop with baby undertow may seem like you’re killing two birds with one stone, you probably are not gaining good ground in either role.

Be mindful to have boundaries between your work and personal life, so you can be 100% present wherever you are.  Learning about the right things to do, creating an ordered way to get them done, and trusting in God’s loving care of you, your family, and your business will allow you the many blessings you desire while living a rich life with family and friends.

And your trust muscle in God will grow, as you put everything important to you in his hands.  He will show you an orderly path of what you need to do to get it done.

Catholic Mompreneur Biz and Life Tip:  You’ll actually get more done if you define your work time and play time and be clear about your activities during those times.  Take an inventory of your structure and planning skills and determine one step you can take to improve.
