Hendey](https://www.catholicmom.com/articles/author/lisa-m-hendey) [![sog_300x250_2](https://www.catholicmom.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/sog_300x250_2.jpg?width=300&height=250&name=sog_300x250_2.jpg)](https://www.catholicmom.com/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/sog_300x250_2.jpg)I'm one of the fortunate few who has had a sneak peek at the amazing new movie **Son of God** which debuts this week, on Friday, February 28. To get you excited, here is a bit of information about the film: > *From the producers of the record-breaking miniseries "The Bible", Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, comes SON OF GOD, the first major picture on the complete life of Jesus Christ in nearly 50 years. SON OF GOD will be released by 20th Century Fox in theaters nationwide on February 28, 2014, featuring powerful performances, exotic locales, dazzling visual effects and a rich orchestral score from Oscar®-winner Hans Zimmer.* And as the film's [official trailer](http://youtu.be/-Hsl5UG9O_c) clearly shows, this is one of those "epic" movie experiences that blends the truth of the Gospels with amazing acting, a perfect musical score, compelling locations, and a strong cast: http://youtu.be/-Hsl5UG9O_c EWTN's "Faithful Reflections on 'Son of God'" Airs Tonight [![The Bible](https://www.catholicmom.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Graded-TB_Day17D_062022012_JA_D3S2018-266x400.jpg?width=191&height=288&name=Graded-TB_Day17D_062022012_JA_D3S2018-266x400.jpg)](https://www.catholicmom.com/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Graded-TB_Day17D_062022012_JA_D3S2018.jpg) I was honestly thrilled to be invited to play a small part in a special EWTN "behind-the-scenes" look by Catholics at this amazing movie: > *If you’re planning on seeing “**Son of God**” when it opens in theaters on February 28, you won’t want to miss this! EWTN Host Raymond Arroyo interviews a host of prominent people about how screening the film impacted their lives. See what Rwandan Genocide Survivor Immaculee LLibagiza, Father Barron’s “Word on Fire Ministries (“Catholicism”), Washington Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Los Angeles Archbishop José Gómez, Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik, Bloggers Lisa Hendey & Brandon Vogt and many more have to say about the movie when “Faithful Reflections On Son of God” airs at 9 p.m. ET, Thursday, Feb 23.* Along with the movie, there is a GREAT resource for making the most of this movie experience: [*Son of God: The Life of Jesus Christ in Pictures*](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1618905899/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1618905899&linkCode=as2&tag=catholicmomcom): a lovely hardcover booked based on the film, to be released on February 28. [![The Bible](https://www.catholicmom.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Graded-TB_Day05B_04012012_JA_D3S3694-550x309.jpg?width=385&height=216&name=Graded-TB_Day05B_04012012_JA_D3S3694-550x309.jpg)](https://www.catholicmom.com/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Graded-TB_Day05B_04012012_JA_D3S3694.jpg) As I mentioned in my endorsement for the film (which I will share later this week), I truly believe **[Son of God](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3210686/)** has the potential to be a tremendous tool in the New Evangelization. Obviously, a movie is created for entertainment and should never be taken literally. But this particular movie is so beautifully created that it will drive you straight to the Gospels, hungry for more. I suggest that you plan a viewing this weekend with friends and loved ones -- perhaps especially some who have questioned or been away from their faith. Follow your viewing with a trip to your favorite coffee shop or a simple dinner, and gather together to have a great conversation about what the images in the film meant to you. With Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent beginning so soon, I also think the film will be a lovely way to kickstart our fasting, prayer and almsgiving with a reminder of the life of our Lord. I know that the experience will bear great fruit and draw many closer to Christ! ***Copyright 2014 Lisa M.
