Catholic Families Have Fun Together

Last month I shared a review of Sarah Reinhard's Catholic Family Fun – A Guide for the Adventurous, Overwhelmed, Creative or Clueless wherein I also got everyone all excited about the great giveaway hosted over at my blog. But then, in some sort of evil twist, my blog stopped working for the first time ever that same day! My deepest apologies. After a little maintenance work the blog is back up and running so I'd like to give this a second shot. Continue reading below for the review and then head on over to the Simplemama Blog for the Giveaway!

Catholic Family Fun Book Giveaway

{Full Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of Catholic Family Fun – A Guide for the Adventurous, Overwhelmed, Creative or Clueless in exchange for an honest review.} I love spending time with my family, especially when we have no where we have to be or anything in particular that needs our urgent attention, which is akin to a miracle.  However, sometimes it’s hard to come up with new and fun ideas that the whole family can realistically participate in and enjoy. So when I heard about Sarah Reinhard’s book Catholic Family Fun – A Guide for the Adventurous, Overwhelmed, Creative or Clueless I knew I had to check it out. And I am glad I did. As I flipped through the chapters when my copy arrived, I could see how resourceful this book could be for our family “surprises” or for other family fun we might want to try.

My Favorites about Catholic Family Fun:

I love the At a Glance appendix in the back. All the suggested activities from throughout the book are categorized by Prep TimeActivity Duration, and Cost. This way, if I’m looking for something last-minute and cheap (which I usually am) I can turn to the appendix and quickly find some ideas to make it look like I had it all planned out all along. The various activities are separated into different chapters for activities to do “At Home” or “Out and Around” and other more specific ideas for Faith with Fun and Ways to Serve and Pray together as a family. Each activity idea offers a suggested way to add in a Faith Angle and gives you tips for how to Make it Your Own. Admittedly, I’m usually not one to follow a “mold” for fun – I prefer spontaneous and impulsive. However, over time and as our family has grown, I have come to appreciate the importance of pre-planning and organization so when we have precious free time we’ll have some ideas ready. If anything, I will use Sarah’s ideas as a springboard for creating our own unique ideas.

Sarah Reinhard’s Catholic Family Fun – A Guide for the Adventurous, Overwhelmed, Creative or Clueless provides an excellent resource for family fun ideas with an ounce of faith mixed in for good measure. I’ll keep this book handy to flip through for fun and unique ideas that can spark new family fun ideas that will work well for our family.

How about you, how does your family do fun together?
