I'm super excited for this week's release of the awesome new movie When The Game Stands Tall.

If you've seen the trailer online, you may recognize the story of one phenomenal high school football team, their spectacular coach and some impressive football. But if you think that this is strictly a football movie, you're missing out.

For those who haven't heard of it, here's an overview and the trailer:

Inspired by a true story, WHEN THE GAME STANDS TALL tells the remarkable journey of legendary football coach Bob Ladouceur (Jim Caviezel), who took the De La Salle High School Spartans from obscurity to a 151-game winning streak that shattered all records for any American sport.

We're entering football season, so the timing is perfect for a film like this which will not only capture the exhilaration of winning (and yes, occasionally losing too) but which also underscores the important life lessons that can be learned through the prism of something like athletics. I don't want to spoil the film in any way, so I'll simply say, "Bring your family, and your tissue."

My endorsement for the film spells out a few of the reasons I loved it:

"When the Game Stands Tall is far more than a football movie - it's a playbook for life. Inspirational, gripping and vastly entertaining, this film will leave you motivated to give your best for all the right reasons. See it with your entire family and leave ready to make our world a better place."

Rated PG, the film opens in some theaters today and nationwide tomorrow, August 22nd.
