pb&g Joyful MysteriesThe Church says that parents are the primary educators of their children in matters of the faith.  That's a heady statement--but one wonders how exactly one carries that out!  Especially for people who are new to the Church, or re-embracing their faith, or uncomfortable talking about God--how do you do that?

Peanut Butter and Grace (www.pbgrace.com) is meant to be part of the answer to that question.  The new imprint is part of a publishing ministry established by Jerry Windley-Daoust, a former development editor, magazine editor, long time free-lance writer in Catholic circles.  He is also a devout Catholic and father of five kids.  "We are creating and publishing books that give parents tools to live the faith with their kids, and books for kids to read about the faith with their parents. This is meant to be attractive, practical, substantial, and most of all easy to implement--just like making a PB &J for your kids' lunch," says Windley-Daoust. "The abstract idea of parents being first formators is great.  We are providing practical, simple tools to do just that."

Beyond the books, there is a weekly free e-newsletter titled "The Bread," full of ways to connect family life with the liturgical week in the Church.  The facebook page is also a source of inspirational stories and articles about raising faithful kids, the vocation of parenting, and more.

The small press has also entered the brave new world of crowdsourcing for the month of March and early April.  If anyone is interested in learning more about the collection plate campaign to raise funds to get the books out more quickly, see their Indiegogo campaign at http://igg.me/at/pbgrace/x/99363 .  All funds raised go directly to press costs (acquiring permissions, marketing), not to salaries.
