Filhos - Presentes de Deus (Children - Gifts from God)

O tema da educação dos filhos é uma constante preocupação dos pais e de toda a sociedade, pois as crianças e jovens de hoje serão os responsáveis pelo mundo e pela sociedade de amanhã. Todo investimento (ou falta dele) de recursos, de tempo, de dedicação para a educação que se faz no presente trará suas consequências, boas ou más, para o próprio educador num futuro bem próximo.

Todos conseguem perceber as consequências devastadoras de uma educação pobre em valores e princípios, focada apenas no bem estar e no prazer, limitada muitas vezes ao mero conhecimento intelectual, criando uma geração de homens e mulheres fracos interiormente, psicologicamente imaturos, que sucumbem na primeira dificuldade que encontram, fugindo muitas vezes para compensações como a bebida, as drogas e a promiscuidade.

"Ao conviver com os bem mais jovens, com aqueles que se tornaram adultos há pouco e com aqueles que estão tateando para virar gente grande percebo que estamos diante da geração mais preparada - e ao mesmo tempo, da mais despreparada. Preparada do ponto de vista das habilidades, despreparada porque não sabe lidar com frustrações. Preparada porque é capaz de usar as ferramentas da tecnologia, despreparada porque despreza o esforço. Preparada porque conhece o mundo em viagens protegida, despreparada porque desconhece a fragilidade da matéria da vida. E por tudo isso sofre, sofre muito, porque foi ensinada a acreditar que nasceu com o patrimônio da felicidade. E não foi ensinada a criar a partir da dor. 

Há uma geração de classe média que estudou em bons colégios, é fluente em outras línguas, viajou para o exterior e teve acesso à cultura e à tecnologia. Uma geração que teve muito mais do que seus pais. Ao mesmo tempo, cresceu com a ilusão de que a vida é fácil. Ou que já nasceram prontos - bastaria apenas que o mundo reconhecesse a sua genialidade. 

Tenho me deparado com jovens que esperam ter no mercado de trabalho uma continuação de suas casas - onde o chefe seria um pai ou uma mãe complacente, que tudo concede. Foram ensinados a pensar que merecem, seja lá o que for que queira. E quando isso não acontece - porque obviamente não acontece - sentem-se traídos, revoltam-se com a 'injustiça' e boa parte se emburra e desiste. 

Como esses estreantes na vida adulta foram crianças e adolescentes que ganharam tudo, sem ter de lutar por quase nada de relevante, desconhecem que a vida é construção - e para conquistar um espaço no mundo é preciso ralar muito. Com ética e honestidade - e não a cotoveladas ou aos gritos. Como seus pais não conseguiram dizer, é o mundo que anuncia a eles uma nova não lá muito animadora: viver é para os insistentes." [1]

Assim, é urgente resgatar a verdadeira educação para que a sociedade não chegue a um verdadeiro colapso, um mundo de 'tiranos' que exigem tudo sem querer dar nada em troca.

Educar, segundo o dicionário da língua portuguesa, significa: "Promover, o desenvolvimento da capacidade intelectual, moral e física (de alguém), ou de si mesmo." [2]. Portanto, a missão primordial dos pais em relação a seus filhos é despertar e desenvolver as qualidades de cada um deles, para que eles consigam, mais tarde, trilhar o caminho desejado por Deus para suas vidas e, no final, chegar à plena felicidade do Céu.

Devemos à criança um grande respeito, pois depois de batizada ela é também um templo do Espírito Santo. Nela estão presentes grandezas humanas que diminuem conforme ela vai crescendo e fazendo escolhas em sua vida. A criança comporta uma infinidade de promessas, de possibilidades que serão desenvolvidas na medida em que os pais souberem cultivá-las, por isso o máximo respeito e o máximo cuidado.

A educação é uma tarefa extremamente difícil, por isso necessitamos nos preparar da melhor forma possível, buscando conhecimento, conselhos de pessoas mais sábias e experientes, mas principalmente precisamos pedir a Deus as graças necessárias para educarmos corretamente nossos filhos.

É necessário saber que a graça coopera com a natureza, ou seja, que a educação deve ser construída sobe a natureza da criança, sobre a matéria prima que a criança possui. Porém, não se deve deixar a natureza operar sozinha, porque ela não é tão boa e nem tão forte. O ser humano sempre terá muita dificuldade em fazer predominar o espírito sobre os instintos, como é dever do espírito, da inteligência. [3]

Deve-se ter em mente que na educação se trabalha com uma matéria viva. O ser humano é inteligente e livre, que deve ser passivo em certa medida, mas é necessário favorecer sempre a atividade e espontaneidade. É preciso levar a criança à cooperar com a educação que lhe é dada; sem isso, uma força invencível poderá ser contida por um tempo, mas mais cedo ou mais tarde se romperá e só trará revolta da criança para aqueles que a estão educando.

Para que isso seja possível, é necessário muito esforço e dedicado por parte de ambos, pai e mãe, a custo de vários sacrifícios, porém, o resultado deste esforço feito por amor, pelo bem e felicidade do filho, com o imprescindível auxílio de Deus e de sua graça, certamente será muito bem recompensado.

The subject of children's education is a constant concern of the parents and all society, because the children and young of today will be responsible for tomorrow's world and society. All investment (or lack of it) of resources, time, dedication for education that is made now will have its consequences, good or bad, for the educator himself in the very near future.

Everybody can see the devastating consequences of an education that is poor in values and principles, focused only on well-being and pleasure, limited many times to only intellectual knowledge, raising a generation of men and women interiorly week, psychologically immature, that fall in the first difficulty found, fleeing many times to compensations such as drink, drugs and promiscuity.

"By living with the much younger, with those who became adults not so long ago and with those that are groping to become grownups I realize that we are facing the most prepared generation - and at the same time - the most unprepared.  Prepared in the abilities point of view, unprepared because they can´t deal with frustrations. Prepared because they can use technological tools, unprepared because they despise the effort. Prepared because they know the world in protected trips, unprepared because they don't know the fragility of life's material. And because all of that they suffer, and suffer a lot, because they were taught to believe that were born with the patrimony of happiness. And weren't taught to create from pain.

There is a generation of middle class that studied at good schools, is fluent in other languages, travelled abroad and had access to culture and technology. A generation   that had much more than their parents. At the same time, grew up with the illusion that life is easy. Or that they were born ready - suffice only that the world recognize their geniality. 

I've seen young people that expects to have in the labor market a continuity of their homes - where the boss would be a complacent father or mother, that gives everything. They were taught that they deserve whatever they desire. And when that doesn't happen - because obviously that doesn't happen - they feel betrayed, revolted with the 'injustice' and many of them sulk and give up.

As those newcomers in the adult life were children and teenagers who were given everything, without having to fight for almost nothing relevant, they don´t know that life is construction - and to have  a space in the world hard work is needed. With ethics and honesty - and not shouting and tantrums. As their parents couldn't say, is the world that tells them a new that is not very cheering: to live is for the insistent." [1]

So it's urgent to rescue true education in order that the society doesn't reach a real collapse, a world of "tyrants" who demand everything without wanting to give anything back.

To educate, according to the Portuguese dictionary, is: "To promote the development of the intellectual, moral and physical ability (of someone), or of himself." [2]. Therefore, the main mission of parents related to their children is to awake and develop the qualities of each one of them, so they may, in the future, walk through the path wished by God for their lives, and in the end, reach real happiness in Heaven.

We owe the child a great respect, because after her Baptism she is also a temple of the Holy Spirit. All human greatness is in her and this decreases as she grows up and make her choices in her life. The child contains an infinitude of promises, of possibilities that will be developed to the extent that her parents know how to cultivate them, through the most respect and the most care.

Education is an extremely difficult task; that's why we need to prepare ourselves the best we can by searching for knowledge, advice from people who are wiser and more experienced, and, most important, asking God for the graces we need to properly educate our children.

It's necessary to know that grace cooperates with nature, so education must be built on the child's nature, on the raw material that the child has. However, we can't leave nature to operate by itself, because it is not so good or so strong. The human being will always have a lot of difficulty in making the spirit prevail over human instincts, which is the duty of spirit and human intelligence. [3]

We must keep in mind that in education we work with living material. The human being is intelligent and free, that should be passive in a certain way, but it is necessary to favor always activity and spontaneity. We need to take the child to cooperate with the education that is given to her; without that, an invincible force can be contained for a while, but sooner or later it will break and will only bring the child's rebellion against those who are educating her.

So that education can be possible, a lot of effort and dedication is needed from both parents, mother and father, with the cost of many sacrifices; however, the outcome from this effort made out of love, for the good and happiness of the child, and with the indispensable help from God and his grace, certainly will be very well rewarded.
