Old Fashioned Movie CreditsAre you looking for a nice romantic film you can watch without fast forwarding through any "uncomfortable" scenes?

Check out Old Fashioneda Pure-Flix "retro-modern love story" where chivalry makes a comeback.

Thanks to Carmel Communications for reaching out to us at CatholicMom.com, with the chance to watch the movie in exchange for an honest review, my husband and I were able to enjoy our own little Old Fashioned date night and enjoy a good, wholesome movie together. It was refreshing to watch a movie that brings back the "old fashioned" idea of courtship and a mutually-respectful and truly loving relationship between a man and a woman.

Old Fashioned centers on a former frat boy Clay Walsh and Amber Hewson, a free-spirited woman, who together attempt the impossible: an “old-fashioned” courtship in contemporary America.

As part of this review, I got to "Hang Out" with Rik Swartzwelder, the writer/director/producer/lead actor in the film, and we had so much fun chatting about his Old Fashioned and why he wanted to make a movie that shows what real "dating" can be like - even and especially for those who may not be "young" anymore but are still looking for a solid, faith-filled marriage.

Rik Swartzwelder has a passion for bringing chivalry and true courtship back to our modern world, making something "Old Fashioned" new again.

With the film release of OLD FASHIONEDI wanted to tell a love story that takes the idea of Godly romance seriously and spark some meaningful conversations about love and romance. We believe the DVD release will keep that conversation going; and hopefully, help bring a measure of additional healing and wholeness to those who my still carry wounds or guilt from previous romantic relationships.

You can watch our Hang Out here or even listen to it here on the Simplemama Podcast.

The movie was released in theaters nationwide over Valentine's weekend ("coincidentally" the same weekend as that other movie of a different "shade" that I will not mention by name here.) If you missed it in theaters, the DVD releases tomorrow - June 16! You can find it at www.oldfashionedmovie.com or Amazon, Target, Walmart, and other retailers.

We ran out of time before I could ask Rik two other questions about whether he thinks chivalry is dead and how we can teach our children how to be more chivalrous. Thankfully, he was kind enough to share his answers with me through email and you can read his thoughts on that over at the Simplemama blog.

And! Carmel Communications and CatholicMom.com have teamed up to offer a THREE-DVD Give Away of Old Fashioned starting right here, right now:
