Gospel Reflections 800x800 gold outlineToday's Gospel: John 6:60-69

Often times when we hear a hard teaching of the church, we may be tempted to “fight it” or argue against it. Some people, like the many disciples, leave Jesus and His church. However, Peter says it best when he responds to Jesus’ question, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” What great faith he had in Jesus, when so many people left! Today is not much different. When we look around, it may seem that Catholics and other Christians are in the minority. Many people stray because they are uncomfortable with a certain teaching. However, only through Jesus and His Church can we have eternal life. To whom else shall we go?

Ponder:

How have I lived today? Have I stayed with Jesus and His church despite some tough teachings? Or have I strayed and lived my own way?

Pray:

Dear Jesus, help me to always choose you. When I am tempted to stray because I want my own way, remind me of your Divine Plan. Like the good Heavenly Father that you are, help me increase my faith in you.
