Gospel Reflections 800x800 gold outlineToday's Gospel: Luke 9:1-6

Memorial of Saint Pius of Pietrelcina, Priest

Today’s Gospel has some very encouraging words to us. Spreading the Gospel and the teachings of Jesus and his church can be very tough. There are critics of the church, there are others who do not want to hear what we are saying, and there are even others who are angered by the teachings we share. However, Jesus gives us some good advice. He says, “Shake the dust from your feet.” We do not have to be successful with every person we share the Good News with. It is encouraging to know that if we have tried our best to reveal the Gospel and are unsuccessful, we should take heart in knowing that we tried out best. We can shake off the dust and move on, preferably continuing to keep those we meet in our prayers. Sometimes, the best evangelization is in our actions and not our words.

Ponder:

How have I evangelized the faith to others today? Could they tell I was Christian by my words and actions?

Pray:

Dear Jesus, help me to always teach your ways in my words and deeds. Help others see you in me as I share your message with them.
