Tell us about yourself and your family:
Our family consists of seven children (ages 30 years to 14 years) and other (adult) children we have unofficially 'fostered' throughout the years, my husband and myself. We are loud, fun, sometimes funny and very open about our faith. No subject is off limits at our table and we feel blessed by the trust that our kids and their friends have given to us. We often attend Confession and Mass together. We love food, our family, faith and football! (Not necessarily in that order.)
Share your family's favorite recipe:
Cheesy Potatoes
container of mashed potatoes
cup of shredded cheese
6-10 strips of cooked and crumbled bacon
1/2 cup of cream
1/2 cup of sour cream
1/4 cup of butter
1 egg
Mix all ingredients together in a casserole dish and bake at 350 for 30-50 minutes. Can add chives or anything else that you would put on a baked potato. Amounts can be increased to feed a crowd. This requires little prep time and amounts do NOT need to be exact, which makes it a winner!!
How does your blog help "feed" people spiritually?
My blog at www.catholicfamilybootcamp.com feeds people by giving families a way to growth in faith and family unity. While some of the posts are just my thoughts, ideas and teachings about the Catechism of the Catholic Church, I often provide specific tasks and scriptures to draw families together as a team and lift them spiritually! This is my true passion.I love to feed everyone with food and with the Catholic Faith!!
Share a Fun Fact about yourself or your family:
Every Friday I make cookies for my family and anyone who stops over to have some. My "Friday Cookie Day" is known throughout the neighborhood. Occasionally, I will hear from my kids' friends who are in college who ask me to mail them some "Friday Cookies!"
Share your family's favorite grace before meals prayer:
We begin our grace with the traditional, "Bless us oh Lord,..." but then our family continues on, "May God relieve the wants of others and God bless everyone at this table." We end with a Hail Mary. As it is a long prayer, my youngest daughter, Anya, prints out the prayers and gives it to any newcomers at our table.
Complete the sentence: When you join us at our dinner table, ...
There is always room for one more! Although, we sometimes have to pray 'loaves and fishes 'over the meal to make it stretch. (It has never failed.)
