It was such a blessing to be able to help contribute to The Catholic Mom’s Prayer Companion. Working with Lisa Hendey and Sarah Reinhard is always a joy, and I was excited, selfishly, to see my work published. But as I’m working my way through this beautiful book, I’m seeing that the far greater blessing is to now have this book of reflections from friends to keep me company this coming year.
Honest, insightful, and so encouraging, the Prayer Companion is a collection of reflections from moms and dads who are right in the thick of family life. Each reflection feels like that rare conversation with a friend that keeps you thinking and makes you feel uplifted and encouraged to keep trying your best at your vocation.
Collectively the book is a tremendously powerful reminder that despite our differences of opinion and circumstances, Catholic parents have a world in common, indeed everything in common, as they struggle with the task of raising a family in the Catholic faith in today’s world. When it seems like no one else has to deal with the sometimes difficult and strange task of making a Catholic family “work” in modern day, I encourage you to pick up this book and find comfort in all the other families that are truly in the same boat.
I have an extra copy that I’d love to give away so if you’d like to enter to win it, please leave a comment below by Saturday, September 10th, and I’ll pick a winner at random.
Prayers for a happy, smooth, and holy start of a new school year!
The way you live your days is the way you live your life. –Annie Dillard
