Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. (Hebrews 13:2)

The New Evangelization calls each of us to be the hands and feet of Christ and share the good news of the Gospel message. Our love for Christ and our dedication to his service should be so joyful and authentic others want what we have. Creating an atmosphere that draws people into our parishes so they can grow closer to the Father requires radical hospitality! If your parish or diocese has been looking for a way to create this atmosphere of Christ centered hospitality, the Catholic Hospitality Training Institute is just what you’ve been looking for.

Hospitality is how we draw others in and help the become open to the gifts of the Father. It is perhaps one of the most important tools in the New Evangelization but it is a skill and an art. The Catholic Hospitality Training Institute offers a full day training designed for anyone who comes in contact with guests and newcomers to the parish. During the training we focus on four areas that will allow you to make your parish a place of rich, warm, Christlike hospitality.

Quite simply, the mission of the training is to prepare you to receive others in the name of Jesus Christ. Each of the four  training sections will help you develop the attitudes and behaviors that will allow you to serve people in a compassionate, Christlike and powerful way. We want you to walk away feeling greater confidence about sharing Christ with whoever might walk through your parish doors, even if it’s only a brief interaction. The day will include time to practice the techniques you’ve learned and you’ll have a chance to pray, reflect, share and network. At the end of each session you will choose two or three ideas and practices that you will put into action when you get back to your parish.

It’s funny how God taps us on the shoulder once in a while and asks us to do something for  him that was never a part of our plans. Two years ago I was invited to develop this training day and I’ve had the opportunity to offer it in several states and in Canada. Those who have participated in the training have great things to say, and leave in the afternoon enthused, joyful, affirmed and equipped to serve up some great hospitality. The day is fast-paced, fun, prayerful and uplifting. So many come expecting to get something for their parish but leave with full and happy hearts themselves. Through the process of learning how to lead others to Christ, participants find themselves a little closer to him as well.

If you are part of a parish or diocese that recognizes the importance of great Catholic Hospitality and you’d like to learn how to do it well, please contact the Institute so we can make plans to work together soon.  If you would like to schedule a training or get more information, please visit www.catholic-institute.com.
