Last night I had the pleasure of speaking to the “Soul Sisters,” a women’s group formed from St. Paul and Incarnation parishes. There were almost thirty women there. They were filled with faith and joy. I spoke to them about creative prayers. We all pray in different ways. I shared with them some of the creative prayers my students pray in my class. We also had music and art prayer, meditation, meditation jars, and I had a small gift for each woman that the Holy Spirit whispered to them about.
That was the first time in four years that I have given a talk. When I started teaching I stopped giving talks and retreats. I just don’t have the time between teaching full time and earning my Master’s degree. Last night, standing in front of those faith filled women who wanted to listen and connect with God, brought all that joy back to my heart. It made me miss that part of my ministry. Don’t worry -- I am not leaving my students; I think they need my message at this time in their lives. They need to know they are loved and that God wants them to draw near. It was such a delight to not have to manage any talking or rude behavior and look into the eyes of women who are hungry for God’s love.

Thank you Soul Sisters, you inspired me! You are each a beautiful creation of God’s precious handiwork. Keep up the prayers and joy that you bring to others!!
