Novena for the Sanctification of Modern Media by Cathy Gilmore ( Via (2017), CC0 Public Domain[/caption] We join together for our fourth day of prayer for a renewal of virtue in American media, focusing in a special way on the creators and consumers of social media and online gaming mechanisms. March 20: Prayer for God to infuse virtue in the hearts of all who create and use social media technology. Heavenly Father, infuse virtue in the hearts of all who create and use social media and gaming technology. Dear Blessed Mother Mary, we ask you to pray with us for the virtues of modesty, peace, adaptability, and respectful humor to become the filter linking each person's perceptions and interactions on social media and in the ways their imagination engages with online gaming. May our prayers pour God's grace on technology innovators, to create mechanisms that serve the spiritual well-being of each user. We pray that families engaged in social media, technology, and online gaming will value in-person encounters and seek times of technology rest. (On Sundays perhaps?) We pray also that sons and daughters will choose habits to make time to honor their fathers and mothers with attentive and respectful words and actions. Pray the second decade of the Joyful Mysteries: The Visitation                                                           One Our Father and ten Hail Marys Picture young teen Mary spending time talking and listening, laughing and praying, working and cooking with her elderly relatives Elizabeth and Zachariah as the two women awaited the births of their special babies. Mary's personal attentiveness to Elizabeth invites you to fully embrace family relationships above technology-based friend-ships. Thanks for joining us in these nine days of prayer together. (Or at least as many days as you can!) I gratefully, humbly ask you to also include Virtue Works Media with your intentions in each of these daily prayers. Let's start today and take the inspiration and strength we receive through these prayers to communicate a joyful desire to create and consume virtue in media and entertainment in our little circle of life. God is the original creative artist; working with him we can have confidence that it is possible to overcome evil with good and renew the face of the earth, from Hollywood to Silicon Valley and beyond.
