I recently had the opportunity to attend our Rochester Diocese’s Catholic Women’s Conference, but I was doubly blessed as our own CatholicMom.com Brand Manager, Danielle Bean, was one of the speakers! I look forward to this event every year. It is a day for fellowship, information, and reflection about our special roles as women in the Church and our communities. This year, the conference fell during the same week as the International Day of Women; this seems so appropriate, as there is nothing more international and universal than the Catholic Church.
The conference was truly a one-stop opportunity for spirituality. The day started with Mass, Adoration, an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a delicious breakfast and lunch, Catholic vendors, and two amazing Catholic speakers, Danielle Bean and Dr. Edward Sri.
Dr. Sri, a theologian, author, and well-known speaker, gave two talks. The first one based on his book, A Biblical Walk through the Mass, (Ascension Press) helped unpack the Mass and explaining the nuances of even the most well-known elements. He started with a historical look at the sign of the cross and ended with his thoughts on the reception of the Eucharist. His second talk, focused on relativism and what true love is. He presented in an engaging, informative and humorous way.

Mrs. Bean, is also an author, speaker, former editor, and our brand manager at CatholicMom.com. She presented on the idea that women are blessed and beautiful. Her deep dive into womanhood and the unique role we play touched the heart of every woman there. She affirmed us as she entertained us with funny stories. My favorite line was, “If you are seeking God’s will in your life, you don’t have to look far. It’s probably standing in the living room, asking you what’s for dinner!” She touched on Saint John Paul II’s incredible understanding and explanation of our role as described in the Theology of the Body.

I must admit, my favorite moment in the day had nothing to do with the food, vendors or even the speakers. It came right after the Bishop announced we would have Mass, followed by Adoration. My daughter and her friend, upon hearing that information, both simultaneously and excitedly squealed, “YES!” That was the moment I knew that I had been blessed by the day.
If you want to grow in your faith, consider attending a conference such as this. They are offered by many parishes and dioceses or consider organizing one yourself.
