I'm not sure when or how Allison Gingras and I "met," but we've been chatting for a while via Facebook and Messenger for a few months at least.

Allison has always been generous with her time when I would have a bible verse question. Her Facebook posts and blog are always inspiring with an occasional dash of "squirrel" humor! When Allison announced the impending publication of her book, The Gift of Invitation: 7 Ways Jesus Invites You to a life of Grace, I was thrilled for her and pre-ordered her book along with the other two in the series: Exploring the Catholic Classics: How Spiritual Reading Can Help You Grow in Wisdom by Tiffany Walsh and Invite the Holy Spirit into your Life: Growing in Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control (whew!) by Deanna A. Bartalini. After a bit of delay in shipping, my copies finally arrived! I was so excited! I headed to my favorite coffee shop armed with a Bible, pencil, eraser, and colored pencils. Allison's book is divided into seven chapters. All are invitations to explore scripture, prayer, share with others, and a place to write your thoughts. My favorite part is the areas where scripture is featured (Connecting to Scripture) and I can write my thoughts on what God's Word means to me. I have taken my time with that, so I can let God's Word fill my heart. The illustrations are simple and pretty additions to the text and though probably not meant for coloring, I've been having fun doing just that. I'm not quite done with the book yet, but I highly recommend it and the whole series. It's a nice way to spend time in prayer and with scripture away from the chaos of today's world.
