Ellen Gable Hrkach reviews a new book by Carey Falter designed to help women reestablish their faith and begin healing after choosing abortion.
Abortion Healing for Catholic Women
By Carey Falter

Abortion Healing for Catholic Women is a 12-week program designed to gently guide women step by step through three distinct phases. In the first phase, the author asks readers to examine their pasts, reflect on their choices, and learn about God’s love. In the second phase, readers will learn how to forgive themselves, forgive others, and find the gift. In the third and final phase, women are introduced to reconciliation, may write a letter to their baby, and learn how to perform a memorial.
The Catholic Faith Helped Author Heal
Like many other women, the author chose to have an abortion years ago. Her path to healing led her to write this book, Abortion Healing for Catholic Women. She reestablished her faith through traditional Catholic prayers: the Rosary, Scripture, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Also included in this book is a workbook that guides the reader through each phase of healing.
No Woman Should be Weighed Down by a Forgiven Sin
The author says,
My hope is that no woman should practice her faith while also feeling weighed down by a forgiven sin she can’t forget. With my program, there is no reason why a woman must suffer in silence because she lacks local healing programs, is uncomfortable in groups, or feels unhealed for any reason.
Excellent Resource
This is an excellent resource for Catholic women who are in the process of healing after having had an abortion. It also contains eye-opening information for those who know women who have had abortions. The book guides women not only to heal from the abortion, but to embrace their faith and learn to forgive themselves. I recommend this book.
