Alexis Dallara-Marsh reviews a new children's book that encourages Eucharistic Adoration.

Written by two religious Sisters with background in elementary education, An Adoration Treasury for Young Catholics is a lovely little reference book not just for children in elementary school but probably Catholics of any age. Coauthors Sr. Mary Bosco Davis, OSF, and Sr. M. Lissetta Gettinger, OSF introduce the text declaring, "Our greatest prayer is that you and your children would simply fall in love with LOVE himself!"

Quickly into the book, there is a love letter called "The Heart of Jesus" with parts taken from St Faustina's Diary of Divine Mercy. This is just one example of the clear language and ongoing joy emanating throughout the text. This book is full of high-yield ways for encountering Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. There are easy to reference prayer topics (i.e. Thanksgiving, Contrition), as well as scripture references from both Old and New Testament figures, incorporating the use of Lectio Divina. There is an outline of how to do Lectio Divina, as well. The book includes illustrations by Evie Schwartzbauer every few pages; these don't distract from the text, but are vibrant and realistic rather than cartoonish.

I probably most enjoyed the examples of children and teenagers who have led by example in adoration of Christ through their lives. There are beautiful portraits of modern-day young saints (Blessed Carlo and Blessed Chiara Luce) and stories of the children of Our Lady of Fatima. A guide for how to pray the Rosary and a reference for the mysteries are also included. I enjoy the relatively small size of the book and that it is an easy-to-carry-around hardcover, sturdy text that is not overwhelming in appearance. In summary, I believe this would be a great resource for anyone, whether well familiar or just beginning to attend Adoration, and I am so thankful to be able to share this book with my family and fellow community.
