Catch up with author Colleen Pressprich in Week 3 of the Catholic Mom 2024 Summer Family Book Club.
A Catholic Mom Book Club for the Whole Family
This summer, we're excited to bring you a family-friendly book club cohosted by our own Allison Gingras and a longtime friend of Catholic Mom, Colleen Pressprich. We’re featuring both Marian Consecration for Families with Young Children and Colleen's newest offering, God the Father’s Love: A Journey Through Scripture for Catholic Families. And we'll be praying together to consecrate our families to Jesus through Mary as we explore these books each week.
In our Week 3 session, Colleen and Allison discuss the "Easter eggs" that were teased in last week's discussion; Colleen explains the intentional decision to include certain images on every page of God the Father’s Love to spark conversation between parents and children. Illustrations in children's books are so much more than decoration — they are a valuable teaching tool. In Marian Consecration for Families with Young Children, the book covers not only who Mary is, but what we can learn from her and some important events from her life.
Colleen and Allison reassure parents that they don't have to have the answers to their children's questions 100% of the time; inviting our children to look with us for the answers, whether in books, documentaries, or online sources, helps them not only to get the answer to their question but also to understand that our life of faith is also a life of learning.

About the Books
God the Father’s Love: A Journey Through Scripture for Catholic Families uses Scripture to invite and encourage children to learn more about God and to feel free to talk to God and about Him. Each day's illustrated entry focuses on one aspect of God's love, offering a Scripture passage emphasizing God's love and a brief reflection bridging the gap between Scripture and our own lives. Daily conversation starters and a brief prayer complete each entry.
Marian Consecration for Families with Young Children enables families with children ages 3 to 7 understand and grow in their faith and in Marian devotion. Daily entries include inviting art, questions to discuss together, and reflections about the lives of Jesus and Mary. Prayers and Scripture readings are interspersed throughout this book. We've scheduled this Book Club to conclude in time for you to begin a Consecration ending on September 15.
How the Book Club works
Colleen Pressprich will join Allison live on Facebook and YouTube for one more week on Tuesday at 9 AM ET. Colleen’s books are interactive, highly engaging, and perfect for summer reading with your children (of all ages).
Mark your calendar with our final Book Club date:
- August 13
During the livestreams, Colleen will offer parents helpful hints, insights, and encouragement. She'll also answer your questions about both books as we review the content from that week’s reading. We would love for you to join us live and share your experiences! How you follow along is entirely up to you — use one or both books. We offer both as we know not every family may feel ready for a Marian Consecration; the Scripture book is a fabulous way to introduce or strengthen more in-depth faith practices at home.
