Communism is an ideology that proposes the abolition of any and all differences between individuals in order to achieve a total equality, since its defenders believe that all inequality generates conflicts. Thus, in a communist society, everything would belong to everyone, without private property, without social classes and with no difference between people. For them, in such a society, there would be no reason for envy, which is the cause of many conflicts.

However, this ideology directly confronts human nature, with the way in which we were created. Each of us is a unique and unrepeatable being, with an exclusive DNA, with its physical and psychological characteristics, its history, its education, so nobody is equal to anyone and forcing equality, as opposed to helping society, will only impoverish it in every way.

Once, Saint Thérèse of Lisieux wondered why we are so different, why God gives more graces and gifts to some and not to others. Then, in a dream, she saw a beautiful garden, with its different flowers, fruits, colors, perfumes, with the grass, the little herbs, in short, all the little details of nature. And she realized that if there were only roses or lilies, there would not be so much charm; that is the whole of creation, with the small and the large, the strong and the weak, which form this exuberant beauty.

Thus, each of us was created with infinite love to fulfill a particular mission. Some have a more noble task, like that of the rose, others have a simpler mission like that of grass; still others may have the responsibility of manure, which, even though it lacks beauty and a pleasant odor, plays an essential role in the fertility of the entire garden.

The important thing is for each of us to discover this mission and strive to accomplish it, without worrying about what the other person is called to do, there being no reason to envy the gifts of the other, since the responsibilities of the other are also many different.

Furthermore, we were created in the image and likeness of God, so everything that is good, beautiful, and true in each of us is a reflection of the Beauty, Goodness, and Truth of God. For ourselves, we are just dust. So when we see something good, beautiful, and true in someone, in fact, we are seeing the divine traits in that person. Our attitude must be admiration and thanksgiving, as it is a way for God to reveal himself to us, through the "second causes" that are all created things.

Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio) teaches us:

We must never be proud of a Good that we recognize in ourselves. Everything comes from God and only to Him should we give honor and glory, without expecting anything other than the reward for the Good that we discover in us.

Envy can be defined as heartbreak, sadness caused by someone else's happiness or prosperity. If we start to see in the other's goods and gifts, reflections of God, there is no room for us to feel envy. After all, what he owns, in fact, is not his, it comes from God. And if God allowed him to enjoy these things (both material and spiritual) it is because that person needs it to fulfill his mission.

This does not mean that I should not strive to be a better person, to have more virtues or even more material goods, as we have a responsibility to develop all the talents that God has given us. But I must do this at my own pace, in my reality, without anguish or sadness if I can't get everything I want at the time I want or look around and see other people who already have what I want.

We must not seek equality in everything. Each one has his originality, his potential that must be developed and without which the work of creation will be imperfect. Let us rejoice in our differences and give thanks for the graces and gifts received by others, as it is a way for God to communicate with us, showing all his generosity and wisdom in the distribution of His gifts.

Let us rejoice in our differences and give thanks for the graces and gifts received by others. #catholicmom
