Shannon Whitmore reviews a new picture book by Gracie Jagla that helps children understand the miracle that takes place at every Mass.
I am always looking for books that help to explain the Mass to my children, and Gracie Jagla’s Jesus and the Miracle of the Mass is a perfect addition to our home library. It can be so easy to forget the incredible miracle that takes place at every Mass, but this book does an incredible job of demonstrating to children the truth of transubstantiation with beautiful illustrations and clever rhymes. Written from Jesus’ perspective, Jesus and the Miracle of the Mass really makes the Mass come alive in the minds of our children. It shows how ordinary bread and wine become Jesus’ Body and Blood, and allows children to really understand why Jesus wanted to work this miracle in the first place—because of His love for us.
Jesus and the Miracle of the Mass is a wonderful addition to anyone’s home library or Mass bag. Small children will be awed by the beautiful illustrations, while older children will enjoy reading more about the incredible miracle that is the Eucharist. And if you’re looking for a gift for the First Communicant in your family, this is the book for you!
Ask for Jesus and the Miracle of the Mass at your local Catholic bookseller, or order online from Amazon.com or the publisher, OSV Kids.
