Book club leader and author Allison Gingras concludes the seventh week of scripture reflections from Jesus Heals: Finding Hope, Wholeness, and Peace of this inaugural Catholic Mom Virtual Book Club.
In Chapter Seven, we discuss how Jesus is still healing us today.
Jesus didn't just come to touch the lives of those blessed to walk the earth with Him over two thousand years ago. Through sacramental grace—especially in the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick—we continue to experience Jesus' healing presence in our lives today!
For the first time, Catholic Mom hosted a virtual book club over the summer via Zoom. It was an incredible blessing to have women join from across the United States—and even from our neighboring country, Canada! The randomly assigned small groups each week felt divinely inspired, as participants shared how each week's reading touched their hearts and drew them closer to Christ.
After experiencing the fellowship, ease of connection, and spiritual uplift that comes from participating in a small group faith-sharing experience, we hope you feel inspired to step out and start your own! We've created some fantastic resources here at Catholic Mom to support you in your journey as a facilitator.
Remember—facilitating isn’t the same as leading! You’re a participant too, so there’s no need to be anxious that you need to have all the answers. To make things even easier, consider forming a committee to share responsibilities such as promotion, setup, and providing refreshments (if you choose to include them). And we are always here to answer questions and help you in any way we can!

Jesus Heals guides women through selected Bible stories of Jesus' tender care of ordinary people, all suffering in some form. Through story, Scripture reflections, and discussion questions, this prayer journal and Scripture study show how Jesus is still healing us today, even when his healing doesn't happen in the way we expect. Whether he heals us physically or spiritually, he fulfills the promise of his words in John 10:10: "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly."
