Jake Frost reflects on what will truly transform the lives of our kids in the era of AI.

There’s been a lot in the news about how AI will transform the lives of our children.

When I see things like that, I can’t help but think: Nothing will transform the lives of our kids like their parents.

No screen, app, or artificial anything compares to the real impact of parents caring, praying, working, and loving their children 24/7 — and leading their children to Jesus Christ, Who will transform their lives like nothing else can.

Helping our kids come to know and love Jesus, giving them the treasure of great price which surpasses all else in value, introducing them to the best and only friend they’ll ever have or need, is the greatest thing anyone can do for our children.

And they won’t get that from any chatbot. No large language model will lead them to The Word.

The best chance our kids will ever have to get that is us, their parents.

Called to a Great Work

Sometimes, amid the blur of long days and short years, it can be easy to lose track of how important our role as parents is. When you feel tired, ground down, exasperated, whenever you feel like throwing in the towel, remember: God has called you to a great work.

And there is no Plan B.

You are the only mother, or father, your child will ever have.

And no expert, no matter what initials are listed after their name, and no matter what job they have in a school or hospital or university or social services organization, will ever love your kids as much as you do. And they need that love more than they need stacks of peer-reviewed behavioral research findings.

Sometimes kids need love the most when they deserve it the least.

There is no one else who can replace you.

The impact you have — on the life of your child, and the whole world — is unique, and profound beyond what we can understand.

It’s so worth it to get back up and try again.

The rewards, too, are greater than we can appreciate now.

Take heart. It will get better.

Turn to a Friend

And get some sleep; sleep has a way of making everything better.

If sleep is hard to come by, there’s chocolate and coffee.

And above all: remember Jesus. He’s there for us, too, just like he’s there for our kids.

A great prayer when you’re at your wit’s end and don’t know what else to do is to simply say: Jesus, I don’t know what to do. Please help me, and please help my child.

He will!
