Join us as we pray the Rosary this month for pregnant mothers. Today, Christina Mayeux ponders the Second Luminous Mystery.

The writers of Catholic Mom enthusiastically gathered to share meditations on each Mystery of the Rosary in a special way for pregnant mothers. We invite you to join us throughout the month of May as we pray together each day, and to share these reflections with other moms who will enjoy them.

Today we will pray the Second Luminous Mystery: The Wedding at Cana.

At the Wedding at Cana, Our Lady intervenes when the wine runs out and asks Jesus for a solution to this dilemma. Until now, Jesus has not performed any miracles or signs for His followers to see. Therefore, with her request, Mary demonstrates her remarkable faith and trust in her Son and His divinity. When she says to the servers, “Do whatever he tells you,” (John 2:5) she reveals her unwavering trust in Jesus and her openness to His plan.

Awaiting the arrival of the most precious blessing of an unborn baby, you, as an expectant mother, must also trust somewhat blindly in the love and care of Jesus for your precious child and for yourself. Amid the joy and anticipation, questions or concerns may at times spring up about the impending birth of your child. Like Mary, concerned that there was no wine at the wedding, you may also become troubled or anxious about what is to come. Will this child be healthy? Will the delivery go smoothly? What will he or she be like? These are just a few of the unknowns you may be pondering during this time of waiting.

Saint John Paul II explained that the mystery of the Wedding at Cana “is an exhortation to trust without hesitation, especially when one does not understand the meaning or benefit of what Christ asks.” Through the example of the Blessed Virgin at Cana, you can learn to lean on Jesus for your every need and concern and to trust that He will act when you ask with faith. Through the events at Cana, you also see that Mary’s intercession with her Son is most powerful. With every Hail Mary you recite, you can confidently ask her to petition Jesus for your own needs and concerns.

This May, pray a #Rosary for pregnant mothers with us! #CatholicMom
