Barb Szyszkiewicz reviews the second book in Theresa Linden's Rosary-themed series of chapter books.
Sharing the Sorrow: Caitlin and Peter's Rosary Adventures Book 2
By Theresa Linden
Published by Silver Fire Publishing
In the new Caitlin and Peter's Rosary Adventures series, Theresa Linden cleverly integrates some of my favorite characters from her West Brothers series (for teens) in a chapter book for young readers. Sharing the Sorrow is the second book in this series, and it focuses on the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary.

What Is This Story About?
Caitlin and Peter are good friends, and they face the same kinds of challenges other kids do. This story begins with Caitlin feeling frustrated because her younger siblings have destroyed one of her most-treasured toys. While Peter is eager to go outside and possibly revisit the Holy Land where the Mysteries of the Rosary took place, Caitlin is reluctant. She knows that this next set of Mysteries is sad, and she doesn't want to feel sad. She changes her mind when she sees in her Rosary journal that “Saint Faustina said Jesus gives us great graces when we meditate on the Sorrowful Mysteries.”
Caitlin and Peter do indeed return to the Holy Land in the time of Jesus and follow Him and the disciples from the Garden of Gethsemane all the way to Jesus' Crucifixion. Along the way, they are challenged to ponder the virtue connected to each of the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary. When they discover the virtue connected to a particular Mystery, they are transported to the scene of the following Mystery, and finally back home where they must apply the lessons they have learned.
Who Would Like This Book?
The books in this series would make great classroom read-alouds for children in first through third grades. Independent readers in second through fourth grades will enjoy them as well. They're best suited for children who enjoy mysteries, stories about time travel, and stories about the life of Jesus.

Order online from Amazon.com; this book is available in paperback and on Kindle, including Kindle Unlimited.
About the First Book in the Series, Jumping into Joy
In Jumping into Joy, Caitlin encourages her friend Peter to use his imagination during the family Rosary to keep from falling asleep; as she demonstrates this, the children pass through a portal into the ancient town of Nazareth and seek to discover the virtues attached to the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary.
