Why a Bible Summit, and why now?

As we began looking at it and praying about it, it just felt like the right time. While things slowly open the curtain of covid still looms. Winter has set in, with cold and sleet isolating many of us even more. People are in need of inspiration and hope and joy more than ever before. Additionally, we are on the verge of Lent ... what better time to give tens of thousands the practical tools they need not only to dive into God's Word, but to make it a part of their everyday life in the everyday.

As mothers and wives, we have *a lot* going on. What benefit would signing up for this summit bring?

Covid has brought us all together ... in all new ways. Most of the mothers and wives I'm talking to and in community with aren't looking for "more" time with their families (they're getting plenty during lockdown )- even though they love them - but, "different" ways to engage their families or different opportunities to be "filled", personally. The mother is the heart of the home. They need to be filled, first, in order to be good for everyone else. I'd invite all women - Moms, especially - to come to the water and drink at this Summit and watch the grace you receive overflow onto all those you love most.

The role of Scripture in my own family life

I'd love to say that we sit, daily, and immerse ourselves in God's sacred Word. It would be a lie. What Scripture has offered our family, though, is taking Jesus from a concept to a person, from a "historical character" to a true, daily, walking companion and Savior. The more our own kids hear how Jesus responded to situations and people, the more easily they can see themselves (and my wife and I can help them see themselves) in the characters.

How does one find God in Scripture?

Eden began with a game of hide and seek. The thing is, however, that God wasn't the one hiding ... we were. God is present on every page of Scripture, some overtly and some covertly. When God feels distant - we need to remember that He didn't move away from us, we moved away from Him. James 4:8 reminds us, "If you draw near to God, he will draw near to you." We are the ones Jesus charges with "asking, seeking and knocking" (Matthew 7:7). We have to take initiative. We need to make the time. We need to seek mentors and guides to walk with us. The Word 2021 offers just that.
