Ellen Mongan interviews Catholic Mom contributor Julie Storr about her article series designed to enrich our experience of Sunday Mass.
We are all fearfully and wonderfully made for a purpose, “so that” God may be glorified through us. He trains us up and then He sends us out. In the secret chamber of our prayer closet, He is forming, molding, and changing us in ways we only see in hindsight. He pours out His wisdom and knowledge into our souls. We are clothed in His love. Graces are bestowed upon us to share His wisdom and to pour out His love to all we meet.
Never has that been more evident than in meeting the many writers that form Catholic Mom. We become gifts to each other, “so that” God may be glorified. Catholic Mom is not just for young moms; it has something for everyone. No matter what age or stage you are in motherhood, you will glean from reading the daily Gospel reflections and articles penned by authors from all over the country (and a few from around the world!).
When I prayed about what to write this month, God nudged me three times to author this article. I listened to that still small voice and obeyed. I hope the following words from Julie will inspire you, as they did me, to go deeper in Christ, to thirst after His word, or maybe even to diagram a Scripture verse or two.
Meet Julie Storr, who is a hidden treasure: gentle, brilliant, and deeply bedded in Christ Jesus our Lord. She is a woman with a well-guarded tongue whose words will bear fruit in the lives of those who listen to her. She has been married for thirty-six years to Patrick. They reside in Iowa, have two sons who are the “apples of her eye,” and a darling daughter-in-law. She thirsts after God with her whole heart and is a convert to the Catholic faith with a great testimony to tell. Listen to the podcast at the bottom of this post and discover how the Blessed Mother drew Julie to Jesus.
In her walk with the Lord, Julie feeds on choice food from the hand of her Heavenly Father. She is learning how to feed the multitudes with the words spoken to her. Do you long to know Jesus Christ and the power of His rising? Do you want to have the Mass come alive before your eyes and ears, and know that you have entered the throne room of God? Have you ever considered diagramming Scripture? Does your prayer time and reading Scripture call you to grow more into the likeness of Jesus Christ?
Julie has a story to tell that all may benefit from hearing. It begins with the words “so that"! Discover how those two words set her on a journey to the heart of God. Julie writes a series called "Lectio the Liturgy," published on Catholic Mom each Saturday. Start the New Year with a resolution to read her articles before Mass each week. It will enrich your Sunday Mass experience. Read Julie's articles here at Catholicmom.com or go to her website, Lectio the Liturgy. Be sure to check out her podcasts, too.
To Julie, Mass is perfect prayer. While assisting at Mass we reach into the very presence of God. Mass is not your church service: it is your prayer. It is at Mass where we gather as Catholics to lift our heart and mind to God.
Please invite Julie to speak at your church, mom’s group, or organization, “so that” you too will be blessed.
