The Daughters of Saint Paul, affectionately known as the #MediaNuns, invite you to #ComeToBethlehem in preparation for Christmas 2022 with a virtual Advent Retreat themed Come to Bethlehem.

The five-week online Advent retreat series kicks off Tuesday, November 22 and all are welcome to join in preparation for the coming of Christ at Christmas.

“Advent is a season of hope and transformation,” said Sr. Amanda Marie Detry, fsp. “God chose Bethlehem, an occupied and poverty-stricken town, as the place to reveal himself to us in Jesus Christ. We pray that this Advent retreat will help people see the rough, ‘Bethlehem’-like areas of their own lives not as obstacles to God, but as places of encounter with him. As we step away from the bustle of the season to hear God’s words to us, we live as the Church united in hope of the Lord’s coming.”

Each week leading to Advent, online retreat attendees will receive a video reflection from one of the Daughters of Saint Paul as well as a suggested Scripture passage to read and reflect upon, a question or prompt for prayer, and a link to one of the Daughters of Saint Paul Christmas songs on Spotify.

“This is the time of year we can all benefit from recalibrating our hearts to what really matters,” said Sr. Tracey Dugas, fsp, Director of Mission Advancement. “It’s very tempting to fall into what the world says we should be thinking, feeling, and believing during this time of year. Our retreat helps us focus on what God is saying with a personal video message, a companion Scripture passage, questions for reflection, and music from our Sisters. We encourage you to invite a friend or a family member who may need a little guidance hearing from and relating to the Lord in prayer. Maybe you have people you pray with regularly and this could be a fun way to spend Advent together. Our aim is to make Jesus the main event of this season and every season of our lives. Let’s meet him, intentionally, at Bethlehem.”
