Barb Szyszkiewicz looks at the newest volume in The Word on Fire Bible: The Pentateuch.
The Pentateuch is the third volume in the planned seven-volume The Word on Fire Bible. This 830-page volume includes the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. But this book, like the others in the series, contains a treasure trove of historical information, photographs of artifacts from biblical times, full-color liturgical art, and more. All of this is designed to help the reader understand these books of the Bible in historical context.
The Word on Fire Bible is a reader's Bible in every way. The pages are sturdy, thick paper, and the typeface was designed especially for this project. It's easy to read, in a single-column format. The translation of the Bible used, the New Revised Standard Version: Catholic Edition, is also easy to read. To set them apart from the Scriptures, commentaries and essays are presented in a different font, on light-colored backgrounds. These take the place of the footnotes you'll find in other editions of the Bible, and provide much more detail than footnotes possibly can.

This Bible is an extraordinary study resource, and proof that a scholarly Bible can also be a beautiful Bible.
The Word on Fire Bible is available with three cover choices: paperback, hardbound, and leather-bound.
