Would you like to write for Catholic Mom?

Thank you for your interest in serving the readers of CatholicMom.com! Here's what prospective Catholic Mom writers need to know:

All of our columnists are volunteers who submit their work freely to our site, retaining copyright to their work.

We request that writers for CatholicMom.com be practicing Catholics, as our purpose is to encourage, inspire, and educate mothers and families of faith.  

COMMITMENT

Writers are expected to submit their work on a monthly basis. 4 contributions per year, at minimum, are required to maintain your active status, but the expectation is that you will share an article each month with our readers.

CONNECTION

Subscribe to our daily digest newsletter, if you have not already done so. It’s the best way to see when your work has been published, and doing so puts you into our mailing list system so we can easily add you to the contributors mailing list. Scroll to the bottom of this page, where you’ll find a yellow box labeled STAY CONNECTED, and enter this email address in that space. 

In addition, we encourage our writers to share their work and to be generous about sharing the work of other contributors with their followers and friends. Social media sharing is an efficient way, though not the only way, to do this. Be creative and spread the word!

APPLICATION  

You will be asked to complete our  contributor survey requesting name, address, phone number, social media and website links (if applicable), where you heard of us, and why you want to write for CatholicMom.com. The survey is linked below and contains upload prompts for these materials: 

• Three nonfiction writing samples, which will be used to determine your suitability for CatholicMom.com and may be used (if you so indicate) as your first three submissions with us. If you have your own blog, you may use sample posts from your blog. (We don’t mind reprints as long as they contain the full article, and our authors always retain full copyright for their work.) We have found that our readers respond best to articles around 800 words in length, so please keep your writing samples in that range. Occasionally, longer pieces, depending on the subject, can be appropriate and appreciated. Writing samples must be submitted as Word documents.
  
  
• A brief bio (65-word limit please) paragraph – this will appear at the bottom of your columns, so please include any links, projects you would like to promote, and the link. Bios must not be longer than 65 words. 
   
• A headshot measuring at least 500x500, for your contributor profile. (PNG or JPG format)
