Today's Gospel: Luke 12:8-12
I am struck by the words at the end of this gospel passage, when Jesus tells His disciples not to worry about how or what their defense will be, or what they are to say. He boldly tells me, “For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment what you should say."
How many times in our lives do we find ourselves worrying and over-planning, and yet the invitation in this gospel is to realize that the Holy Spirit is with us?
Let us pause and remember the gifts of the Holy Spirit that we have been given. Wisdom and Understanding, Counsel and Knowledge, Fortitude, Piety and Fear of the Lord. These seven gifts offer us the guidance needed to meet times of transition with greater courage and joy.
Can we see the Holy Spirit as our constant teacher? This gospel is a wonderful invitation for us to remember that the Holy Spirit is our constant guide and counsel.
