Today's Gospel: Luke 21:20-28
After reading a Gospel like today’s, it’s pretty hard not to either run screaming or roll your eyes.
I mean, come ON, God. I have enough drama trying to make sure no one’s feet are feeling funny (my own included).
Stepping back from the literal interpretation of this passage, I can’t help but feel like there’s a “WAKE UP!” sort of call here.
It’s the end of the liturgical year. Pretty soon we’ll be Advent-ing, and in the biz-biz-busiest time of the year.
I don’t know about you, but God often has to use a two-by-four across my head to get my attention. This Gospel is the scriptural equivalent of that.
Wake up! Pay attention! Get over yourself!
There’s important work to do, and whether it’s laundry or an oil change or a long overdue manuscript, there’s no time like the present.
Let’s embrace where we are, who we are, and what God’s asking of us.
And if there are fireworks in the sky, even better.

Ponder:
How do you need to “wake up” to God’s call to you?Pray:
Father, it’s so easy to get stuck in a rut with the day-to-day, even though I may love it. Hold my hand as I struggle to be more present to You today. Amen.Copyright 2018 Sarah Reinhard Receive CatholicMom.com newsletters in your inbox, including the Daily Gospel Reflection each morning! * indicates required
