Reflection by Annette K. Tenny
Today's Gospel: John 14:21-26
When I pray, it is nearly always to Holy Spirit.
I follow Jesus from behind, rarely entering into His camp to sit beside Him. He knows I’m ‘back there’, trudging along, and I never lose sight of Him. Many times though, the distance between us grows more than it should. He leaves a signpost, I pick up my pace. We never give up on each other.
Over and over again in today’s passage, Jesus tells His followers who He is and what they must do. "Love me, love the Father," he tells them.
"Keep my word," he says "and I will remain in you as the Father remains in me." But Christ knows how hard these seemingly simple commandments can be. So, He reassures His apostles that they will never, ever be alone even when He no longer walks in this world with them.
“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name – he will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.”
The gift of the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, is the most precious gift I have ever received. It is not a gift to be clung to, to own, but to be shared with as many other souls as possible.
We are never alone – not ever. And the Holy Spirit will guide and teach you for your whole life. Let that gift be always forefront in your mind.

Ponder:
How can I show others the wondrous gift of the Holy Spirit today?Pray:
O Lord, my God, I pray that all the people that I love so much, experience the touch of Holy Spirit just once in their lives. That’s all Lord, just that, because I know and you know, that once is all it takes to change their lives forever. Amen.Copyright 2019 Annette K. Tenny Annette K.
