Today's Gospel: Matthew 20:1-16
"What’s your name?" "Graham."
"What’s his name?" "Liam."
In any given week you can hear this conversation between my husband and my younger son at least three times. There is something about justice that kids understand and when it isn’t being doled out, they are quick to react. So my husband’s response is, in a nutshell, “You are two different people. You worry about you.”
In today’s gospel we see how the workers in the vineyard are all paid the same wage regardless of the time spent working. They had to trust that the owner knew what he was doing and that no matter what, their needs would be met. I know I often act like the worker who feels cheated. I grumble instead of praise. I focus on their blessings instead of my own. I would do well to remember that God has always and will always care for me because He is loving, good and just.
God has always and will always care for me because He is loving, good and just. #dailygospel
Ponder:
Do you spend more time thinking about the blessings of others instead of your own? How can you shift your focus to gratitude?
Pray:
Lord, thank You for caring for my needs and blessing me beyond what I deserve.
