Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Matthew 9:35–10:1, 5A, 6-8

Jesus, Who has been healing people and teaching, notes there is so much work to do that He needs more laborers to help Him accomplish it.

Then, He proceeds to commission His Apostles in this work, giving them the power to accomplish what He has been demonstrating to them: that is, healing the sick, driving out demons, and teaching, among other things.

In this instance, Jesus is speaking directly to the Apostles, and gives them an admonition: “Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.”

These words jump out at me today. I, too, am commissioned to work in this evangelization, as all of us are who call ourselves Christians. I have indeed been given much – Jesus expects me to give to others with the same generosity. It’s a tall order, but at the same time I am reminded of the advice from Saints, that we can do little things with love. We can be generous in our station and according to our abilities.

Ponder:

How can you participate in the evangelization to which we are called? Identify one thing you can do this week and do it with a generous heart.

Pray:

Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for all that I am and all that I have. Help me to be a good worker in Your vineyard. Amen.
