Today's Gospel: LIST GOSPEL

Why isn’t this everyone’s favorite Gospel passage? Jesus is talking about the one sheep. We all go astray; we all lose our way at some point in our lives. People get sad and lonely. People become doubtful and leave the Church. Some people see the evil in the world, blame God, and then stop believing in Him.

But here Jesus tells us that the Shepherd seeks out the lost one. He loves the other ninety-nine, but does not stop looking until He finds the one that is lost. He seeks us out when we get lost. He pursues us to bring us back. He loves us so much that even if we deny Him, even if we don’t know Him, even if we are in a dark, depressing place, we can and should hope in the fact that God is looking for us. This is one of the most hopeful and promising messages Jesus could have spoken. He loves us so much He will find us.

Ponder:

Do I really know how much God loves me?

Pray:

Dear Lord, when I am in a dark place, help me remember how much You love me. Give me strength in my hope. I want to love You more. Amen.
