Today's Gospel: 6th Sunday of Easter - John 15:9-17

In John chapter 15, we read a true love story from Jesus. He loves us just as much as the Father loves Him. Now, just think about that for a moment. Jesus loves us, just as much as the Father loves Him. That is one powerful statement--a hope-filled statement--a declaration of absolute love.

He goes on to ask for our love in return, but He doesn’t just ask for our feelings. No, He asks us to show Him our love through obedience. He showed His love for the Father by obeying Him even to His death on the Cross. That is what we remembered during Holy Week, just a few short weeks ago. The Easter season is when we remember His Resurrection, His life, and His great love for us. In turn, we show our love to Him by our obedience to His commandments. What did He command us to do? Love God with all your heart, mind, and will, and love your neighbor as yourself. Keep these commandments in mind as you react to what is going on in your life and in your world today. Show Jesus by your words and actions that you love Him.

Ponder:

How do I show Jesus I love Him every day?

Pray:

Dear Lord, may I do my best to show my love for You through obedience to Your Commandments. May I try my best to love You as much as You love me. Amen.
