Today's Gospel: Luke 9:7-9

Jesus asked His disciples: “Who do you say that I am?” Here, Herod wants to know, “Who is this?” when he hears of Jesus’ miracles of healing.

It’s good for us, too, to step back and ask that question anew. “Who is Jesus for me today?” Because Jesus has not stopped being a miracle healer. He still works wonders for those who ask for His help.

A priest with a special gift of healing said, “No one goes away empty-handed” when they ask for healing. It may take a different form or longer time than our will wanted. Surprisingly, I’ve found that the biggest part of healing is developing a willingness to forgive. “Anything but that, Lord!” I want to say. And He says, “Honey, if your heart is full of old resentment, there’s no room for my mercy.”

Jesus endured the suspicion and envy of Herod to carry out His ministry on earth. I’ve seen first hand that He will work through anything we see as an obstacle—especially unforgiveness—if we just ask Him with a willing heart.

Ponder:

What is one weakness in me today that I can ask Jesus to heal?

Pray:

Lord, I know Who You are—the Divine Physician and Prince of Peace. Strengthen me in the way you see I need it most today. Thank You for Your loving care.
