Today's Gospel: John 1:47-51 - Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael

Today’s world can seem like a dark place to many of us. We want to run and hide or bury our heads in the sand. It seems as if at every turn, Satan waits in the wings to derail any hope, any goodness, any happiness we may be experiencing. In that moment of what Satan perceives as his greatest triumph we forget that hope and help are only a prayer away.

We have all experienced the hopelessness presented on the evening news, or election season, or simply dealing with day to day living. We easily forget that although life is not meant to be easy, God doesn’t want us to lose hope, lose faith, and live in fear. He has offered us numerous avenues for us to travel, to find hope and strengthen our faith.

We all know that Mary is a great intercessor who has become a beacon of hope for humanity. However she is not alone. God also created angels. These pure, spiritual beings are there for humans to turn to in the darkest of times.

Michael, known as the prince of heavenly hosts is our defender, our protector when Satan rears his ugly head.

Gabriel, "God is my strength", is God’s communicator. When motivation and confidence are in short supply, Gabriel is the angel to turn to.

Raphael, "God heals", is your go to angel for any type of healing. Raphael also assists Michael in overcoming fear and stress.

Praying to these three angels along with the other Archangels will supply the hope and faith needed to travel life’s highways.

Ponder:

Where do I turn when Satan is knocking on the door?

Pray:

Sts. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, be a light in my darkness, so that I may not lose faith or hope in the presence of Satan.
