Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Mark 6:30-34

In today’s Gospel, the apostles are returning from their first mission. They were sent out in twos, to bring Christ’s message to everyone they encountered, and with energy and conviction, they completed the task. They gather around Jesus with plenty of stories to tell, but He can see that they need a break. Their bodies are sore and their minds are tired; they need time to sort things out. Jesus tells them,

“Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.”

Together they set out for a quiet place where they can relax. The crowds follow after Jesus, and in His compassion for them, He continues in His work.

As faithful Catholics, we are part of Christ’s evangelization team. Raising a family, teaching in our parish community, and practicing hospitality in our homes are some of the ways in which we are bringing Christ to those around us. Following Jesus is both exhilarating and exhausting at times. It’s vital that we have a place of respite, a quiet place to recharge and refresh, a place where we are open to His comfort, correction, and redirection.

Ponder:

When and where can you gather with like-minded women? Can you schedule time to spend with a sister-in-Christ? Taking mini day trips to local shrines, spending a few days on a silent retreat, or making visits to Blessed Sacrament are some ways to foster personal renewal.

Pray:

Lord, when I am weak and weary, You invite me to come away with You and rest for a while. Thank You for accepting my weakness and providing the grace I need to carry on with the mission that You have custom made for me.
