Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Luke 4:24-30

"But he passed through the midst of them and went away." Luke 4:30

Have you ever felt alone in a crowd of people? Have you ever felt invisible as people seemed to look right through you? And talked around you? And barely acknowledged you? Have you ever felt misunderstood?

Have you ever felt “unseen?"

The people in Jesus's native land did not recognize Him as any kind of prophet or Messiah. He didn’t fit their idea or image of who the Messiah should be. So they didn’t pay a lot of attention to Him.

They did not know that God was in their midst.

So Jesus passed right through the crowd. Unseen. Unrecognized. Unknown.

Even when He read the scripture to them, they did not see their Savior. They just saw the carpenter’s son.

For years I was not aware that God was always present in my life. I can remember how astounded I felt when God's grace helped me to see that He had indeed been with me. Even in the bad times.

Even in those times when I hardly acknowledged His existence. Even in those times that I felt unseen.

God is not just with us when it is obvious, like during Mass or standing on a mountaintop. God is also with us when we are alone, or scared or depressed. Or even when we are screwing up. Making mistakes.

Sometimes we do not see what is right in front of us. We do not recognize what we see.

It takes eyes of faith to see God everywhere and in everything and in everybody.

Have you seen Jesus today?

He’s waiting for you.

Ponder:

Where have I seen Jesus today?

Pray:

Jesus, thank You for Your loving presence in my life. Please help me to share my faith with others.
