Today's Gospel: John 12: 1-11

Mary Magdalene’s love for Christ moved her to use a very expensive perfumed oil to anoint the feet of her beloved Savior and Lord. Not long before, she had sat at the feet of Jesus, drawn to Him above the distraction of any earthly concerns, listening to Him, trying hard to understand the things He was speaking of. As she sat so near, perhaps she noticed his dirty feet, maybe even saw a blister or two, from the constant rub of His sandals. She felt a rush of love and devotion. Filled with the Holy Spirit, she decided right then and there that she would clean his feet with her own supply of “genuine, aromatic nard.” Nothing was too good for her Lord! It might have been embarrassing, and she found herself being reprimanded by Judas as she tended to Christ’s feet with the nard, her tears, and her hair. But her Love held her there, and Jesus responded to her sacrifice with gratitude and mercy, going so far as to praise her actions. We must strive to love Christ in the same way, all out, nothing held back, not worrying what others might think or say, our eyes and minds fixed on Him.

Ponder:

Do I give the Lord my best or do I hold back, ignoring the promptings of the Holy Spirit or too concerned with the opinions of others?

Pray:

Heavenly Father, bless me with the courage and humility to love and worship Jesus as Mary Magdalene did, with all my heart, and without fear.
